Adirondacks

Definition 
The Mohawk Indians contemptuously dubbed a tribe of Algonquin Indians Adirondack, meaning "they eat bark," and the tribe's nickname came to be applied to the mountain region in northeastern New York that these Indians inhabited. The insulting name gives us, literally, "they eat bark" chairs, pack baskets, and even grapes, among many other items characteristic of the Adirondacks.
