Definition 
A historical name for any supporter of John Adams, the second president of the United States. Old Parson Weems, George Washington's biographer, wrote a book entitled The Philanthropist, or a Good Twenty-five Cents Worth of Political Love Powder for Honest Adamites and Jeffersonians. John Adams, who died in 1826, age 91, died on a July 4th, as did Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. Adams and Jefferson died on the same July 4th. See jefferson bible.
