Addams Family

Pronunciation pronunciation key
adămz

Definition
A group of people who are grotesque or horrific in appearance or character. The comical misadventures of the Addams family, a bizarrely spooky group of individuals, became hugely popular in the 1960s both as a newspaper comic strip and in television and (later) film stories. Prominent among them were Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Pugsley and Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt, and the butler Lurch, all of whom bore a disturbing resemblance to well-established characters of the horror genre. By the time he had fought his way through the swamp he looked like something out of the Addams Family. See also Munsters The.
