Angry Young Men

Definition 
A term applied to a group of English writers, whose novels and plays in the 1950s featured protagonists who responded with articulate rage to the malaise that engulfed postwar England. The best known example of the work these writers produced is the angry working-class hero of John Osborne's drama Look Back in Anger (1956). In fiction, the term has been applied to Kingsly Amis's Lucky Jim (1953), John Braine's Room at the Top (1957), and Allan Sillitoe's Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1958) and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1959).
